Memorial Day Weekend is quickly approaching, and if you are staying in town, take a look at what events and activities are taking place in the community. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. This weekend is an opportunity for us to reflect on the sacrifices that many have made on behalf of our country. Puyallup Memorial Day Observance is taking place from 1-2 p.m. May 28, Pioneer Park Pavilion, 330 S. Meridian, Puyallup Washington. The program includes music by the Rogers High School Wind Ensemble, the Ferrucci J.H.S. String Ensemble and the Clan Gordon Pipe Band.
It’s going to be a great weekend to be outside! Here are few ideas to get out and about and soak up the sun! Click here for this weekend’s weather forecast.
Puyallup Farmers Market
We have had a few glorious days of sun! It seems like just overnight we went from overcast and 50s to sunshine and 70s-80s, and it seems like people are very excited. The weather for the weekend is looking good, so why not hit the Puyallup Farmers Market this Saturday? A stroll through the downtown market is a great way to spend a sunny morning or afternoon. Grab some fresh produce and products to make dinner, or just enjoy the friendly and happy atmosphere that this community event produces. Grab some fresh flowers for your significant other, buy a fresh squeezed lemonade, or check out the bakery and treat section.
Puyallup Splash Park
The downtown Water Park officially opened last week, and the opening lined up very nicely with the weather. Grab your kiddos and go splashing through the water park to cool off. The water park is central to other kid-friendly activities including the park, library, and frozen yogurt shop across the street! This is a great area for your kids to burn off some energy and have fun while doing it!
Puyallup Parks
Puyallup Parks are a great way to get outside! If you want a day out, but are trying to stay out of the sun, Wildwood Park offers plenty of shade, creeks, play areas, and exercise trails to get you moving without worrying about the harsh sun.
Bradley Park offers more open green space, a small lake, and plenty of other amenities. On nice days, parking can be a little difficult to find, so make sure you plan accordingly. This is a great park to have a picnic!
If you are downtown, DeCoursey is another park to visit. Make an adventure out of exploring the hills, or grab a frisbee to play on the open fields!
Not a Fan on the Outdoors?
If you are not a fan of the weather warmer, going to see a movie is a great way to cool off. Check what is playing at the local theaters here. Who doesn’t like dinner and a movie on a Friday or Saturday evening?
Paint your worries away at Pinot’s Pallete. For an evening filled with art, food, drinks, and some good friends, what more could you ask for? They have several weeknight and weekend events with different options to pick from! Reserve your spot tonight.
The Puyallup Washington Public Library is always hosting great events that community members can enjoy. Click here to see what is going on at the library this weekend.
