Fall is officially in full swing, and that means it’s time for autumn festivities. Pumpkin spice lattes are on the menu, Halloween costumes are on the mind, and people are excited to visit local pumpkin patches.
The Puyallup community has a handful of local farms to explore. Search for your perfect pumpkin and take it home to carve a masterpiece.
Picha’s Farm is a great place to get the full pumpkin patch experience. They have a 7-acre interactive corn maze, a slingshot that will muster up a friendly competition, a tractor ride, snacks and drinks for purchase, and a large field to pick your pumpkin. The staff is extremely friendly. Don’t forget to wear rain boots or shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy!
Spooners Farm is another great pumpkin patch in the community. Spooners have been around since 1882, so they know how to run an impressive Harvest Festival. You will enjoy spending time in their fields full of pumpkins. Once you have found one, you can check out the farm animals, test your navigational skills in the corn maze, take a hayride, or get a snack to refuel; they offer a selection of favorite seasonal foods like caramel apples, roasted corn, and apple cider.
Scholtz Farm offers a more intimate setting to pick a pumpkin. The farm is smaller in comparison to other local patches, but no less enjoyable. If you don’t want to deal with finding parking and crowds, Scholtz is a great option. It has a great pumpkin patch, friendly staff, and a family feel to it. The farm is technically located in Orting but is a quick drive from Puyallup.
Double R Farms, located on River Road in between Puyallup and Tacoma, offers a family-fun pumpkin patch experience. Explore the 5-acre corn maze, check out the animals, and find your pumpkin. Concessions go on sale starting the 2nd weekend of October. There is a free tractor ride pull, and kids can try a slingshot for free. You will enjoy this inexpensive and fun patch for a family day out.
